The Riviera — A Study in Stripes

The Riviera — A Study in Stripes

Before stripes belonged to fashion, they belonged to places.

They stretched across hotel awnings.

Covered cabanas beside swimming pools.

Wrapped deck chairs facing the sea.

And faded slowly beneath years of Mediterranean sun.

For The Riviera, we looked at the stripe not simply as a pattern, but as part of the architecture of an old holiday.

Wide bands meet narrow pinstripes. Pool blue sits beside warm ivory. Coral, seafoam and pale yellow interrupt the rhythm like colors slowly bleached by summer light.

The result is intentionally imperfect.

Not nautical.

Not graphic for the sake of being graphic.

The Riviera stripe is meant to feel as though it already existed somewhere before becoming a swimsuit.

Perhaps on the awning of a hotel terrace.

Perhaps on a towel left beside a pool.

Perhaps on a cabana curtain moving in the afternoon breeze.

This is how AZZAVELA approaches nostalgia:

not by recreating the past exactly,

but by remembering how it felt.
